Family Tree

A family tree gives a visual picture of the relationships between generations. But to understand intergenerational relationships, family secrets, parents’ hopes and children’s dreams one must ask open and honest questions of the relatives on the family tree.

Dena (Smith) Sommer graduated from California State University at Fullerton in 1968 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and from UCLA in 1969 with a Master of Journalism degree.  Her professional media experience includes working for KNX News radio, the Los Angeles Times, Los Angeles City News Service, and the Fullerton Daily News Tribune.  Ms. Sommer retired from education in 2001 after working for the North Orange County Community College District and the Brea-Olinda Unified School District.  She is also a past Trustee of the BOUSD Board of Education.  Ms. Sommer is a recipient of the UCLA Dumont Scholarship and the Felicia Mahood Award for
