With swords and canon and fierce horses, the small band of Spaniards conquered the Inca Empire. Stretching the length of the Andes and west to the sea, was it two million? Six million strong? Who knows.
It was the fifth age of the sun and it was predicted by the stars, the planets, the moon and the sun. Each morning they feared that the sun would not rise.
In vain they sacrificed their youth to the Sun God.
In vain they gave their gold to heal the sickness of these Spanish Gods.
In vain they converted to the Spaniards’ ways and religions.
And then they were slaughtered.
Their empire ended as the fifth age of the sun ended
as the stars, the planets, the moon and the sun predicted.
And they all cried!
