Faith

Every Christmas it has been my pleasure to read “The Journey of the Magi” by T. S. Eliot. Introduced to this poem as a teen, it is responsible for changing my life, if ever so slightly, or, maybe significantly. My faith as a child was shaken by a reality so eloquently described. In later years the poem has become a rallying point of the Christmas Season and my faith in the birth of Jesus, the death of Jesus, His purpose.

Eliot’s poem concludes with the speaker stating that he would be glad to die another death. Perhaps this one could bring him to his final rest alongside God.
