“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.” Psalm 119:105
Apprehensive of the dark
I entered with trepidation
Fearing what I fear most
(without the Word showing us the way,
man would be lost)
We could walk in, standing
The ceiling beyond the reach of our lamps
Concentrating on the pathway as we were
(You can see your way, as the light radiating out from the lamp
is held out in front of you.)
Not long and we were closed-in
Ducking an occasional stalactite
Bending now and then
(the Word of God, it casts it’s light on the
“way we should go”)
More now as the ceiling arched downward
Forcing me, occasionally, on bended knee
Until I was crawling
(The lamp is in our control. We can use it as intended
or discard it and try to find our way)
On my belly I continued
Pulling along with my hands
Pressed by earthly weight
(So the Word of God is good for our use
in showing us a need, our sin)
Pulling behind me
The baggage of my life
wedged here and there to the jagged walls
(The lamp is in our control We can use it as intended
or discard it and try to find our way)
then stuck!
I couldn’t go forward
I couldn’t go back
(to direct us in the ways of righteousness in our conversation,
our actions and decisions as we travel through this world)
Here, my lamp flickers for the last time
In the belly of the earth
I live out my last breath
(We must take the Word of God and use it. The lamp keeps burning
with the oil of the Holy Spirit)
Apprehensive of the dark
I enter with trepidation
Fearing what I fear most
(a way out, which is our salvation
through Jesus Christ)
Saved!
You always have a special way with words, Fritz. Very nice. Jeanette Reese http://jeanettereese.com/
